Firstcall & TFC Film Scanning Event Featuring Negative Supply

Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th September 2026, 10am–4pm

Join Firstcall Photo and The Flash Centre at TFC Birmingham for a special two-day event dedicated to film digitisation and camera scanning with Negative Supply.

The Negative Supply team will be flying in from the USA especially for the event. AJ Holmes, CEO; Kai Diaz, Marketing; and Rick Renteria, Technical Sales, will all be attending, giving UK film photographers a rare opportunity to meet the people behind the equipment, see complete scanning systems in action and receive expert advice directly from the manufacturer.

Negative Supply will also be bringing a demonstration unit of its new 8×10 film-scanning product, offering attendees an early opportunity to see the latest large-format solution in person.

Whether you are beginning to scan film at home or want to refine a professional workflow, the event will include scheduled introductory and advanced demonstrations, informal drop-in sessions and practical product guidance.

Introduction to Film Scanning: 23rd and 24th September 11.30am

Designed for photographers who are new to camera scanning, this introductory demonstration will explain the equipment and essential techniques needed to begin digitising film at home.

Using Negative Supply’s Enthusiast Kits and accessories, the team will take you through a practical scanning workflow and explain how each part of the setup contributes to consistent, high-quality results.

The demonstration will guide you through:

  • The fundamentals of digitising film with a digital camera
  • An introduction to Negative Supply Enthusiast Kits
  • Choosing a suitable camera and macro lens
  • Understanding film holders, light sources and useful accessories
  • Positioning and aligning your camera-scanning setup
  • Creating an efficient and repeatable scanning workflow
  • Practical tips for achieving sharp, evenly illuminated scans

This session is ideal for film photographers who want to begin scanning at home, as well as anyone looking to improve the reliability of a basic camera-scanning setup.

This more technical demonstration is designed for experienced film photographers, high-volume users, studios and imaging professionals.

Focusing on Negative Supply’s Curated and Pro systems, the team will explore how more advanced equipment can improve speed, consistency and control across demanding scanning workflows. The demonstration will also include the new 8×10 film-scanning product.

The demonstration will guide you through:

  • An introduction to Negative Supply Curated and Pro systems
  • A demonstration of the new Negative Supply 8×10 product
  • Building a faster and more repeatable scanning workflow
  • Equipment choices for higher-volume film digitisation
  • Maintaining consistent alignment and illumination

Meet the Negative Supply Team

The Negative Supply team is travelling from the USA especially for this event. AJ Holmes, CEO; Kai Price, Marketing; and Rick, Technical Sales, will be available to answer detailed questions and offer practical advice based on your cameras, film formats, available space and scanning requirements.

Representatives from The Flash Centre and Firstcall will also be available throughout both days to demonstrate equipment and help visitors choose the right system.

Informal Demonstrations and Product Advice

The main open event will run from 10am to 4pm on Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th September 2026. Alongside the scheduled sessions, visitors can drop in for informal demonstrations and one-to-one conversations.

A dedicated Negative Supply display will bring together selected scanning systems and accessories, including a demonstration unit of the new 8×10 product, allowing you to get hands-on with the film-scanning process.
