Multigrade Art 300 is a brand-new fibre-based darkroom paper aimed at photographic students and fine art photographers who want the ultimate in a high-quality printing media.
It is Ilford's first new photographic paper in 13 years and been developed in co-operation with Hahnem?hle (renowned for their superior fine-art ink jet papers). They developed its 100% cotton rag paper base and the acid free nature of the art paper.
With its 300gsm weight and textured feel you will get neutral to warmish tones on a cool base. It also has an attractive eggshell sheen. One of its attributes is the reduced wash times when compared to normal fibre-based Multigrade paper. This will make it more user-friendly to those printers who might normally consider only RC papers.
Review by Rodney Bates:
Although Multigrade Art 300 is the most expensive silver-gelatine paper we sell, used on the right occasions, for that very special print it is worth every penny. It processes well in all the usual Multigrade developers - we prefer Champion because it is the cheapest but responds to lith developing too - choose Rollei Vintage Creative Superlith.
It works just like Ilford Warmtone with a fabulous textured finish and being thick it flattens really well. We used to sell lots of Kentmere Art Classic which after discontinuation was sadly missed. Art 300 is more than a suitable replacement especially as it has the added benefit of being a variable contrast paper.
ILFORD MULTIGRADE ART 300 has a textured matt surface with an eggshell sheen. The new base has been specially produced for HARMAN technology by Hahnem?hle FineArt GmbH. The fine art base with a MULTIGRADE silver gelatine coating has a cool base colour and warm image tone. Compared to ILFORD FB (baryta) papers slightly shorter wash times are achieved, and the paper can easily be handled in large sheets thanks to its 300 GSM weight.
