This well-balanced film developer is based on Ascorbic Acid. Ascorbic Acid is often referred to as the Vitamin C film developer. Some modern developers often replace the toxic Hydroquinone or Metol with Ascorbic Acid or Vitamin C.
Adox's XT-3 developer offers a wide range of ISO negatives with high sharpness and excellent grain. Being Hydroquinone-free and without Boric Acid, it is eco-friendly too. It also has improved storage capabilities when compared to earlier ascorbic-acid developers.

The developing times and resulting curves are identical with XTOL produced before 2019 and sold in aluminium compound bags, making it an excellent alternative to XTOL.
However, ascorbate developers can have poor keeping properties. Oxidised ascorbate is both ineffective as a developing agent and lowers the solution's pH, making the remaining developing agents less active.
A one litre pack is enough developer for ten films, while the 5 litre pack will process 50 films.
