Product Description
SelectaColor is an alternative process for making continuous-tone prints of any size on paper, plastics, glass, ceramics, metals, and other materials.
The process consists of three simple steps: Apply the photosensitive pigment by brush, cloth, sponge or roller. This can be done under subdued room light. (The standard colours in the kit are blue, red, yellow and black). Then print onto the sensitized surface through a full-size 8x10 inch or A4 transparency, using daylight or other bright light source (This can be produced from Maco lith negatives traditionally or from a computer using ink jet or our own inkjet transparency film). After wiping off the surface, the unexposed areas will dissolve away, while areas that have been hardened by light remain, revealing a brilliantly-coloured full-range positive image. SelectaColor prints are archivally-permanent, as they consist of solid pigments, not fugitive dyes. All the colours are semi-transparent, so they can be mixed for intermediate hues and can be applied in sequence for multicoloured prints. SelectaColor is particularly useful for proofing a small section of a large substrate, such as a portion of a map or poster.
