Reflecta Film Scanner Super 8 and Normal 8

"This year I had decided to sort out the 50 years worth of home movies in the loft. Some of it I had seen being taken in the last days of Kodachrome. I had searched for scanners for still film and discovered this device on First Call's web, an affordable scanner for home movies. A search on YouTube for reviews produced one from the USA for the same machine under a different name. It was such a good review that I decided to buy one, well I suddenly found I was going to be at home for a while. Ordered on line and a delivery period a few days ahead. When it did not arrive on the final day I decided a email the best way to check in these strange times. Prompt reply indicating a small delivery day at their end, it arrived first thing next day. Soon had it up and running. Very easy. File sizes are not really large, 4GB cards work fine. Works fine with colour obviously but also monochrome reversed and negative in Super and Standard 8. Main practical advice is to be prepared for breakage. Ideally a spliced should be available but as breaks are after the scan just taping to continue spoiling would do. Feed is at the head so a break not caught means film everywhere. Editing is straight forward. Recording is at 20fps and changing to 18 or 16 fps should be easy. Also squaring pixels might be required. I have Serifs discontinued editor and 0.9 / 0.8 corrects fps. So far I am well pleased and well priced for non mass market tech. It does what it says on the lid."
