We recommend Nova Monochrome print processors to free-up valuable space in your darkroom while saving you money at the same time. They are like turning three trays on their ends but still taking up less overall space than just one dish. But the money saving comes in when you consider your developer will last 4-5 weeks (rather than 4-5 hours) due to the extremely small surface area available for oxidisation.
With Monochrome processors, you also have the major advantage of no setting-up or clearing away. There is no user contact with the chemistry either - great for health and safety at college. Although not heated, all the chemicals stay in the processor. After the first print, all that is required is a rinse of the unique Nova clip and a quick shake to dislodge the water then the next print can be started. At the end of the session, replace the floating lids on top of the tanks, and leave until the next time.

"After several decades of developing prints in trays I finally got round to buying a Nova Processor.
Having set it up in my darkroom it becomes apparent that it doesn't take up much. My first thought on using it was "Why didn't I buy one of these years ago?" No more mixing chemicals and washing trays after EVERY darkroom session. Oh the joy! I can do as many or as few prints as I like and not have to worry about "getting the most" out of my chemicals. The chemicals really do stay good for weeks on end and only occasionally need replenishing. It is important to make sure at the start of each session that the fluid levels are high enough so that when a print is put into each slot it is fully immersed.
I have found that it helps if you mix your developer and fixer at 1+4* rather than 1+9. Stop bath you can mix as normal.
It's easy to test your chemicals to see if they are still good or need replenishing. These tests can be done under normal light.
Developer: Take a sheet of photographic paper and tear or cut it into smaller strips. Dunk half the length of the strip into the developer and see how long it takes to go black. If it's two minutes or less then your developer is good. If it doesn't go completely black or takes a long time then the developer needs replenishing.
Stop Bath: Most stop bath chemicals have a colour indicator to show when they are exhausted. Use Mark 1 eyeball to see if colour has changed.
Fixer: Take a piece of exposed but undeveloped film and dunk half of it in the fixer. (The lead bit of 35mm films is great for this.) The dunked part should go clear in under two minutes if the fixer is still good.
In conclusion, a Nova Processor is a great addition to any darkroom. While not the cheapest of darkroom equipment it should last forever and pay for itself in savings made on chemicals. It's easy for novices to use and because of the thin slots that hold the chemicals the smell that some people find objectionable is greatly reduced.
