Vent-Axia has developed a new range of budget darkroom extractors beginning at only £100 which clears over 500 cubic feet of air every 10 minutes.
This Solo Plus range only needs a 100mm (4 inches) diameter bore duct. All models pass current Building Regulations Document requirements and with the flush or surface mounted facias have washable built-in filters too.
They use just 29 watts of power and are only 8x10 inches when mounted on the wall. The Solo
Plus HT (Timer) model is flush or surface mountable. Constant trickle option. 2 Speed. Adjustable timer overrun. Delay on the timer. Finished in white, this model also has humidity control built-in, with a 2-position 100mm circular spigot for rear entry or connecting to a vertical ducting system. The powerful centrifugal forward curved impeller allows installations using 100mm ducting in straight runs up to 50m.
Humidity is different from simple air exchange in that if you have a humidity level mixing with some of the corrosive chemicals that you find in the darkroom, you quickly get metal fatigue as a result.
Mount into the ceiling as most cables for the lighting system run between the joists of a ceiling floor for wiring the unit into. If you want to mount your Ventaxia unit into a window, you will need a special window mounting kit and a cowl to protect your brickwork if you want to go through to an outside wall.
Although the centrifugal motor mounting makes them more light-tight than competitor models for absolute light tightness, we recommend the use of a cowl on the 100mm exit end. This is available from us, or you can make your own easily in the template of an upturned letterbox.
