Find out what Mike Padua thinks of Pinsta Camera:
Loading paper, taking photos and developing your Prints:
Loading your Pinsta camera couldn't be easier, simply put your camera and your photographic paper into the dark/changing bag to load a new piece of paper into the camera back. To take a shot simply position your camera and open the shutter. Typical exposure on a sunny day is 2 minutes.
A photo taken with Pinsta onto Harman direct positive paper. Exposure time 3 minutesYour prints are developed with regular photographic chemistry and it is inserted and extracted with syringes. When you are developing the camera body is your darkroom and your camera back becomes your developing tray!
A clear demonstrational version of Pinsta shows how it develops prints internallyDeveloping of black and white paper is a simple process so you can't really get it wrong. Develop for 1 minute, fix for 30 seconds to 4 minutes (depending on the paper) and add water to wash before revealing your amazing photographic print. A set of syringes will develop around 4-5 shots depending on which photographic paper you are using. The syringes are then replenished with your own chemistry once it is exhausted.
Enlarging negatives:
Enlarging negatives with Pinsta is very much like taking a photo except that you position the negative inside the camera in-between the pinhole and the photographic paper using Pinsta's unique negative enlargement slide.
You then rotate the shutter disc to position the diffuser spot over the pinhole. Illuminating this spot with a bright light source transposes your negative onto the photographic paper inside. Your enlargement is then developed as if you had taken a photo.
Using the Light Baffle/Filter slide to customize images:
The internal light baffle prevents light from bouncing off the camera walls and fogging your image but it can also be used as a filter slide and for customising your photos or enlargements with overlays, textures, double exposures or shaped exposures.. There is a huge amount of creative potential with this slide.
