Adox Film Magnifier 10x Precision Illuminated Loupe

Product Description

We love this new 10x loupe from Adox. Since Rodenstock discontinued their loupe five years ago, there has been a gap for a high-quality, 10x film magnifier that uses a precision, glass lens.

So it was a delight to see that not only has Adox replaced introduced their new loupe but uniquely, it was also illuminated using a LED light that combined covers a large area and produces a crisp high-quality image even at the edges.

The elements in the lenses are is fully coated and in three lenses that go to make up the loupe come in two groups and have a 30mm diameter. This means you can enlarge the film high enough to effectively judge sharpness, grain or resolution and the image is not severely cropped either. For spectacle wearers, there's also an adjustable dioptre compensation.

Of course, the 10x magnification is perfect for the ground glass of a field camera to check the focus and In the footer, there is a micrometric scale (1/10th of a mm) which can be removed if wanted.

Other features include a high-quality lens thread is made from metal, transparent foot for translucent or reflecting images and LED ring light built into the loupe. This illumination effectively dispenses with the need for a light box for your contact print viewing. It is powered by 4 silver oxide batteries which are included as well as a protective leather case.

"This is a very well made loupe, manufactured from what appears to be billet aluminium, with a 10x glass lens with adjustable diopter and a perspex base, which has an additional, removable, colourless perspex cap engraved with centre markings in mm, visible when viewed through the loupe. The loupe comes in its own leather pouch. It has additional LED illumination if needed. I use it for close focussing on the ground glass of my LF field camera, and the clarity is superb."

"This is a serious magnifier for anyone that needs to views negs or slides. It has a crystal clear adjustable view with an in built light. The crosshairs in the field of view help greatly in the viewing process. Highly recommended!"

"Really, really good build quality. Metal body and high quality glass lens. Plus, the (removable) 1/10th mm scale on a glass plate is very useful for graphic design jobs as well as photography. The LEDs are bright and even. The focussing eyepiece adjustment is firm (a good thing in my view) which keeps its focus point well. Useful for users who needs lens correction. Set it once and forget etc. Loupe feels really solid in use. Nice and heavy. Comes in a leather case and with a cloth and lens cap. For the money, feels like a good investment which will last and last. On top of that, mine arrived next day after ordering. Great service from Firstcall. I'd recommend this loupe without any hesitation. "

"Clear and bright image both with the illumination and on the light box. Superior optics mean that this loupe outperforms a lot of the cheaper plastic lenses on the market. A bit pricey but well worth the extra. The illumination is good enough to enable direct photographs using the iPhone camera."
