The Yashica FX-D S300 takes the analogue-inspired FX-D experience a step further by adding a built-in OLED electronic viewfinder. Finished in sleek black, it combines a 50MP 1/1.56-inch CMOS sensor, six Yashica film simulations, a bright 24mm-equivalent f/1.8 lens and 3-axis image stabilisation with controls designed to recreate some of the feel and ritual of shooting a traditional film camera.
Film Simulation Mode uses the camera's working advance lever between photographs, while Digital Mode lets you shoot conventionally when speed is more important. The S300's EVF makes the experience even closer to composing through a traditional camera, particularly in bright outdoor conditions where a rear screen can be harder to see.
The S300 is the FX-D model we'd choose for photographers who really want to lean into the film-inspired experience. The electronic viewfinder makes composition feel more natural and focused, while the advance lever and built-in film simulations encourage you to slow down and think about each frame.
The key difference between the FX-D S300 and FX-D 300 is the integrated electronic viewfinder. Its 0.32-inch OLED panel offers approximately 1.4 million dots with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, providing a clear way to compose without relying entirely on the rear screen.
Choose from Ruby 60s, Sapphire 70s, Yashica 400, Golden 80s, Mono 400 and B&W 400. You can personalise the finished look by adjusting contrast, saturation, sharpness, hue and white balance, giving you far more control than a simple fixed filter.
In Film Simulation Mode, the advance lever becomes part of the photographic process. After each exposure, wind the lever fully before taking the next photograph. It recreates a familiar analogue action and deliberately encourages a slower, more thoughtful rhythm.
Switch to Digital Mode and you can shoot normally without winding between frames, giving you both styles of photography in one camera.
The FX-D S300 uses a 50MP 1/1.56-inch CMOS sensor with a 5.68mm lens providing a 24mm full-frame equivalent field of view. The bright f/1.8 aperture is useful for everyday available-light shooting, while crop modes provide 35mm, 50mm and 60mm-equivalent framing options at progressively lower resolutions.
Built-in 3-axis image stabilisation helps reduce the effects of camera shake during handheld shooting, giving you extra flexibility when the light drops or when working with slower shutter speeds.
The S300 supports both JPEG and JPEG+DNG capture, giving you the choice between finished files straight from the camera and greater flexibility for editing afterwards.
Video can be recorded at up to 4K 30fps, with 2.7K up to 60fps, Full HD up to 120fps and HD up to 120fps. Slow motion, time-lapse, loop recording and pre-recording functions provide additional creative options.
Wi-Fi connectivity works with the Yashica app on compatible iOS and Android devices. The camera also includes USB-C connectivity, a 3.5mm microphone input and a hot shoe for compatible external flash equipment.
