Both reels are also compatible with Paterson 5 and 8 tanks, so you can use them with hand agitation if you prefer a more traditional approach.

The Paper 5 reel handles sheets up to 8×10 inches, which is ideal if you want to process large format negatives or RA-4 paper without the mess of trays. The 5×7 reel is designed for smaller sheets, but it can also be inserted into the Paper 5 reel to split the chamber, letting you process multiple 5×7 prints at once. Both reels are designed to keep chemical use to a minimum, making them economical as well as practical. The only caveat is that the Paper 5 reel isn’t suitable for staining developers, so if you’re working with those, stick to standard black & white or RA-4 chemistry.
