Compact Spot Metering
The Spot Meter MK3 provides approximately 1-degree spot metering, allowing you to take precise readings from small areas of a scene. This is especially useful when working with high contrast subjects, transparency film, black and white negative film, large format cameras or any setup where careful exposure placement matters.
Bright Internal Colour Display
A bright internal full colour LCD gives you a clear view of readings, settings and metering results. The MK3 features a 240 x 240 pixel colour screen, simple controls and an easy menu system, making it quick to use in the field.
Single and 2-Spot Average Metering
In single reading mode, you can take a continuous reading, lock the exposure and adjust shutter or aperture combinations. The 2-spot average mode lets you meter a shadow and a highlight, then automatically calculates the middle grey EV for the scene, helping you find a balanced exposure quickly.
Zone System and Precision Method Modes
The Zone System mode allows you to select a tone in the scene, assign it to a chosen Zone and let the meter calculate the Zone V value. The Precision Method mode, developed with photographer and teacher Nick Carver, lets you place tones using descriptive values from textureless black through to textureless white, with customisable film latitude for more considered exposure decisions.
Cine Mode
Cine mode is designed for motion picture work, allowing shutter speed to be displayed using framerate and shutter angle. Select your framerate and shutter angle, and the meter calculates the aperture required for your chosen exposure.
Flash and HSS Flash Metering
New to the Spot Meter MK3 is reflective flash metering, including flash duration discharge curve display and flash-to-ambient ratio information. High Speed Sync flash metering is also supported, giving studio and location photographers more flexibility when combining flash with ambient light.
Improved MK3 Build
The MK3 version introduces a CNC machined aluminium body and buttons, glass optics, an AR coated sensor lens, integrated lens caps and an internal rechargeable NiMH battery. These upgrades give the meter a more durable, refined feel while keeping it small and lightweight.
