MOERSCH Tanol Developer 2x250ml Concentrate

Moersch Tanol is a specialised staining developer, perfect for achieving high resolution, maximum sharpness, and relatively fine grain. Suitable for both tank and tray development, it offers exceptional results, particularly for large-format film and alternative photographic processes. While rotation development is possible, tank or tray methods provide superior sharpness.

>When used to print on fixed-grade paper, the stain has virtually no effect on the contrast. However, with variable-contrast paper, the denser areas of stain will act like a soft-contrast filter.

This developer is particularly interesting for large format film, if the negatives are to be used for traditional silver, Platinum, Cyanotype printing, or other alternative processes. When used for contact printing, as well as in older traditional photographic processes, very dense highlights and a linear contrast curve are necessary (A contrast range of between 1.7 and 2.0 logD is required). Exposure is made with daylight or a UV light source, and since the stain blocks UV light, a print can be made directly from the original negative.

Key Features:

• Improved Oxidation Control: Unlike traditional Pyro staining developers, Tanol’s oxidation process begins much later, making it ideal for extended development times in the Zone System (N+ development) without risking process breakdown.
• Staining Effect: Produces a coloured stain proportional to the silver content of the film, reducing visible graininess by building up between the silver grains. Though less apparent to the eye compared to Pyro developers, the stain is equally effective.
