There's been a lot of 'hype' about new colour films in the last year as rising sales have fuelled interest in the world of experimentation. Unfortunately, most of these 'new' films are anything but with many just tweaked versions of existing stocks.

However, Lomography's new LomoChrome Metropolis is the exception.
It truly is a brand-new film, brought about by the substantial funding of over $165,000 raised on the Kickstarter platform. And unlike other Kickstarter mixed results, the Metropolis project is real, and the film is available now.
Available in 35 mm or 120 (medium format) versions the appeal of this C41 colour film lies in the way Lomography has purposely desaturated the colours (almost like the antithesis of a Fuji colour film). The emulsion of the film equally mutes the tones but accentuates the contrasts making for a completely unique analogue experience. If you're into 'retro' images, you won't get any better than Metropolis - it's like the sixties revisited.
Two other features of the film worth mentioning are that it comes with an extended 100-400 ISO range unlike other fixed ISO offerings, and its fine grain structure produces cinema-style results across this range without the need for any additional filter.

The film is easy to process at home or to send away to a lab - standard C41 processing is used and regardless of what ISO you choose, the development process remains the same.
