Sodium Hexametaphosphate or Calgon, has the property of holding calcium and magnesium salts in solution, even when boiling, making it a great water softner.


Sometimes called Graham's Salt, Polyphosphatesodium salt, Sodium polyphosphate or


Calgon; but please note that the proprietry Calgon is not always the same formula as Sodium Hexametaphosphate.


The molecular formula is: Na6O18P6.
