This soft working developing agent is the another popular ingredient found in many film and print developers and no home developing cookbook is complete without it as, with the compound hydroquinone it reduces silver halides to elemental silver. Phenidone is an alternative to Metol for dermatitis suffers. It has five to ten times the developing power as Metol - hence the smaller quantity that we sell it in.


Phenidone functions as a reducing agent and theTradeMark of Ilford, hence many of the recipies you can find are Ilford ones, like PQ. It has a molecular formula C9H10N2O
