The AGO LED Light for Super 8 Reel is designed for the second exposure stage in black and white reversal processing of Super 8 film. Used with a compatible translucent Super 8 developing reel, it provides stable, flicker-free illumination to help re-expose the film evenly before the second developer stage.
This light is only needed for black and white reversal, or Scala-style, processing. It is not required for standard black and white negative, C-41 colour negative or ECN-2 cine film development, as those processes do not include a re-exposure step.
This is a simple but very useful tool for anyone processing black and white reversal Super 8 at home. It is sized for even illumination across the reel, helping reduce the risk of uneven re-exposure and density variation in the final positive image.
During black and white reversal processing, the film must be re-exposed to light after the first developer and bleach stages. The AGO LED Light sits inside the translucent Super 8 reel body to help expose the helically wound film from within.
The RGB LED light provides stable illumination across the reel. For second exposure, the recommended setting is 2500K at 50% intensity, exposing from both the inside and outside of the reel while rotating for even coverage.
This light is designed for Super 8 reversal processing and compatible Super 8 developing reels. It is not compatible with Standard 8mm film.
