ADOX Colloida C Coating Gelatine 250g
ADOX Colloida C is a highly purified, chemically inactive coating gelatine for preparing surfaces and working with photographic emulsions. It can be used as an undercoat or overcoat, making it a useful addition to the darkroom for photographers who coat their own papers and other materials.
Applied as a basecoat to highly absorbent surfaces, Colloida C helps reduce the amount of photographic emulsion needed. It can also be used with ready-made liquid photographic emulsions and as a gloss aid when drying fibre-based photographic paper with a heated print dryer.

Prepare Surfaces Before Coating
Colloida C can be applied as an undercoat to highly absorbent materials. This helps prepare the surface before you apply your photographic emulsion and can reduce the amount of emulsion required.
Useful for Overcoating and Print Finishing
As well as undercoating, this chemically inactive gelatine can be used to overcoat photographic emulsions. It is also suitable as a gloss aid when hot drying fibre-based (baryta) photographic paper.
How to Prepare
Stir 40–80g of Colloida C into 1 litre of water heated to approximately 40°C. Continue stirring until the gelatine has dissolved completely and the solution is free of lumps.
Colloida C is not sensitised, so the gelatine itself can be prepared in daylight. If you are using it alongside a light-sensitive photographic emulsion, follow the emulsion manufacturer's instructions for safe handling and coating conditions.
