ADOX Adonal Film Developer 500ml

The Rodinal Formula
Rodinal was originally created by Momme Andresen in Berlin in 1891 and became one of the most recognised photographic developers ever produced. ADOX Adonal is manufactured according to Agfa Leverkusen's 2004 Rodinal formula, working with the knowledge of former Agfa specialists to reproduce the characteristics of the original developer.
Photographers familiar with Agfa Rodinal can therefore use Adonal with the same development approach and expect the familiar combination of strong acutance, excellent sharpness and clearly defined grain.
Sharpness and Acutance
Adonal is an acutance-enhancing developer. Rather than trying to minimise every trace of grain, its formulation emphasises edge definition, helping fine details appear crisp and well separated.
Compared with R09/APH09-type developers, ADOX describes the Rodinal formulation used for Adonal as producing finer grain while retaining its characteristic sharpness and acutance.
Flexible Dilution
Adonal is highly concentrated and can be diluted from 1+25 up to 1+200 depending on the film, desired result and development method.
For most conventional processing, 1+25 and 1+50 are the most commonly used dilutions. Higher dilutions can be used for specialist techniques where longer development times or reduced developer concentration are required.
Minimum Concentrate Quantity
When using high dilutions, it is important to maintain a sufficient quantity of developer concentrate for each film.

4x5in sheet film: Use at least 5ml of concentrate for every four sheets

8x10in sheet film: Use at least 5ml of concentrate per sheet
This minimum concentrate requirement may mean preparing a larger total volume of working solution than your developing tank would otherwise require when using very high dilutions.
One-Shot Developer
Adonal is designed as a one-shot developer. Mix only the quantity of working solution you need for the films being processed and discard the used developer after processing. The diluted working solution should not be reused.
