The Negative Supply Basic Film Carrier 120 MK2 is a refined and simplified solution for scanning medium format film using a digital camera. Designed as a major update to the original version, it improves film flatness, ease of use, and overall workflow, while supporting a wide range of formats from 6x4.5 through to 6x9. Whether you are scanning full rolls or cut strips, it offers a fast, consistent way to digitise your 120 or 220 film with excellent results.
This carrier is designed to be used as part of the Negative Supply modular scanning system and requires a compatible light source to operate. It works with a range of Negative Supply light sources when paired with the optional Basic Film Carrier 120 MK2 Stabilising Mask, which helps block stray light and provides a stable mounting platform. It can also be used with the optional 120 Film Scanning Hood to further improve contrast. The interchangeable cassette system allows you to swap formats without tools, and additional accessories can expand the system further.
This is a great example of Negative Supply simplifying things in the right way. The removal of the older hinge system and the move to a double S-curve design makes loading film quicker and more intuitive, while still keeping it impressively flat. The magnetic cassette system is particularly useful, as it lets you switch formats quickly without interrupting your workflow. It is also genuinely fast, being able to scan a full roll in around a minute once your setup is dialled in. For anyone scanning medium format regularly, this strikes a very good balance between speed, simplicity, and quality.
