All Jobo tanks can be combined with extension modules, for example, the 3-film tank extension 1530. Depending on which lid you have on the tank, you can use it for either normal hand development or in one of the many available processors (with a 1505 cog lid for the models with a lift and a 1504 magnet lid for those without a lift). With the extension modules, you can quickly turn a 2-film tank into a 5-, 7-, or 8-film tank.

The tanks come with a maximum of one spiral. Most are delivered with a plastic lid for hand-developing. Adding a 1505 cog to the lid allows you to use any tank in a processor (CPE3 or CPP3). If you want to develop both with a processor and by hand, purchasing the complete cog lid (1503) is better.

Jobo film-developing tanks require less chemistry than the other manufacturers' tanks. So, they are very economical; this tank volume is 485ml for inversion agitation or 240ml for rotary agitation, and it holds two reels in 35mm position or one reel in 120 position.

Total capacity means it can process 2x35mm, 2x120, or 1x220 at the same time (the 120 films being loaded back-to-back using the DUO clip),
