Our opinion:
Manfrotto's extremely popular 055 series of tripods is 50% more rigid and offers some improvements on its predecessors.
New quick power locks provide a quick and easy solution to locking the tripod in the desired position. An impressive maximum load of 8 kg means that it is suitable for even the heaviest of equipment. 90 degree leg and column angles provide versatility and stability in any position.
The Easy Link attachment, allows to convert the new 055 into a portable photographic studio. It is possible to attach an (optional) arm with an LED light, a reflector, making lighting the subject much easier.
Lastly, the spirit level bubble rotates now, so it is always accessible, no matter how you've set up the legs.
This kit includes the new XPRO-BHQ2 ballhead, which is not only smaller and lighter than it's predecessor but includes a number of technical improvements.
A new triple lock system now ensures that the ballhead is held securely in position with no drifting when the camera is attached. Fine adjustments to the camera positions can be made with the locking knobs half open - and polymer rings have replaced grease to facilitate smooth operation. Two spirit levels help in positioning the camera just perfectly.
The tripod legs and head combination weighs 3 kg.
