It is still relatively easy to develop the small area of a 35mm film evenly. After all, the area is no larger than the so-called “full frame sensor” of the DSLR. But things are completely different with sheet films. An 8x10' sheet film has approximately as much surface area as all 36 images of a 35mm film combined, almost one sheet of copy paper. In order to develop this large area evenly, an optimal tool is required. The famous photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto almost despaired of this task until he finally had the JOBO processor with Expert Drum at his disposal. Uneven development would have been catastrophic, especially for his photographs with large gray areas. Almost none of the successful large format photographers would like to do without the quality level of a JOBO rotary development machine - regardless of whether they are in Europe, the USA, China or Japan.
